Get ready to experience entertainment that you won't find anywhere else; ride roller coasters, see productions, watch plays, take pictures with Disney characters and more.
1. Don’t neglect the on-site hotels
Although they tend to be a little more expensive, on-site Disney resorts are definitely worth the extra money. Receive early access to the parks, FastPass+, extra hours in one of the theme parks, complimentary transportation, special dining plans, and more.
2. Not making enough time
One of the biggest mistakes people make is not allotting themselves enough time. Before arriving to Disney, make sure you research the transportation schedule and review the park map to avoid wasting time and getting lost. It is common individuals may miss their shuttle bus because they didn't give themselves enough time to exit the park.
3. Not budgeting your money correctly
Make a list of everything you want to do on your Disney vacation and how much each of those things cost. A Disney vacation can be pricy, the last thing you want to do is go over budget. *Tip: Make sure you set some extra money aside for souvenirs.
4. Not making your dining reservations ahead of time
If you already know where you want to eat for dinner, don't wing it and just show up. You will end up waiting around for what may seem like forever. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time to avoid the hassle. Also, Disney hosts a variety of character meals. For some of them, you can book your tables up to 180 days ahead of time. Research your resort and Disney location for the best perks.
5. Not picking up a map ahead of time
Make sure you scope out the park and look at a park map before you go. The last thing you want is to find yourself walking the entire length of the park five times with the kids because you missed an attraction. Check out a map before you go to help plan and organize your day.
6. Not educating yourself on the attractions
Guests who are traveling with small children, especially, should spend some time researching what each attraction is like. Make sure you check the height requirements and intensity of the ride. One of the worst feelings is having waited on a line for 45 minutes to be told you have to exit because your child is not tall enough. Save time and stress by simply educating yourself on the attractions beforehand.
7. Not taking advantage of the FastPass+
Forget waiting on long lines; make sure you take advantage of FastPasses. Do some research beforehand and figure out the best rides to use to your FastPass+ on. They are available to all guests and will save you a lot of time.
8. Over-planning
Leave some room for random activities and spontaneous events. Over planning your vacation can cause anxiety. Just relax and plan your day accordingly, but make sure you leave some wiggle room. You never know, you may want to take a detour and watch a performance or take extra pictures with Disney characters.
9. Not educating yourself on transportation
Similar to what was said earlier, allowing enough time for transportation is crucial to your Disney vacation experience. Busses follow a specific schedule; make sure you follow the same schedule. Often visitors spend more time waiting for the bus to arrive than they would have liked.
10. Not using PhotoPass photographers
Many visitors have the same regret – not using the PhotoPass photographers. You're at the park, running around with the kids and making wonderful memories. But before you know it, the day is over and you were so caught up you didn't take any photos. When you see the photographers, just stop for a picture. You don't actually have to purchase the photo, but at least you have the option.
