Tough Mudder Gets Competitive At The World's Toughest Mudder
Tough Mudder races are known as some of the most hardcore events in the world. They were ranked #3 in our list of America's Best Adventure Races, and now the race is being taken up a notch at the World's Toughest Mudder.
It's hard to believe that Tough Mudder is only 4 years old. Its increasing popularity proves just how great of a race it is. Every year obstacles include tests of common fears, such as the Arctic Enema, Electroshock Therapy, Funky Monkey, and this year, Fire in the Hole and Pyramid Scheme. The obstacles are difficult, but the most impressive aspect of the competition is the genuine teamwork and camaraderie that shines through.
But, that shining quality of teamwork and camaraderie may be lost on November 15th, when a five-mile circuit will be tested in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 1,200 of the most intense Tough Mudder men and women from around the world will come together and compete in hopes of being named the 'Toughest'.
Tough Mudder competitions are a set of military-style obstacle courses which ask participants to test their mental and physical strength. And, at a Tough Mudder race, the main principle revolves around teamwork, as the events are untimed, but the World's Toughest Mudder is changing the rules.
With over 20 of Tough Mudder's most challenging obstacles over 24-hours, this culminating event of the Tough Mudder calendar will push the participants to their limits, and find the winners of it all. Participants are asked to complete the five-mile circuit as many times as possible in the 24-hour span and winners will be selected based on the highest number of laps completed by a male, female and team.
So with a longer course, and more intensive challenges, The World's Toughest Mudder is definitely the toughest. But, when the competition comes into play, especially with the crowning of individual winners, will the idea of teamwork be completely lost?
