South Yuba River State Park combines all the goodness of heading outside and reconnecting with the land. There are plenty of swimming spots, hiking trails, and activities.
This hidden gem in northern California is the perfect getaway for some much-needed time under the sun. It is located roughly 68 miles north of the city of Sacramento.
With a 20-mile stretch of river running along the canyon, there are plenty of swimming holes to choose from. The water ranges from shallow waters to gentle rapids.
The best time for swimming in the South Yuba River is between March and October. If you'd rather stay near the shore, gold panning is allowed using the "hands and pans" method.
The park offers a lot, from birdwatching to hiking. The trails are split into three areas: Bridgeport Trails, Highway 49 Crossing Trails, and Purdon Crossing to Edwards Crossing.
