Off I-25 in Trinidad, Colorado, the Art Cartopia Museum is self-described as "the greatest art car museum on earth." See a skeleton riding a jet plane, a school bus decked out to look like a dragon, and on not-windy days, a gigantic inflatable King Kong greeting oncoming traffic while holding a car over his head.

Bored after retirement and "sick of mowing the grass," John Milkovisch created the Beer Can House in Houston, Texas over a span of 20 years using over 50,000 cans of beer. The house is mostly made from beers he consumed himself, but cans were hardly from the best-tasting beers in the country — Milkovisch's favorite beer was always "whatever's on special."

Zoo worker Hugh Davis built the Blue Whale as an anniversary gift for his wife in 1972 in Catoosa, Oklahoma, along Route 66. He envisioned the friendly-looking whale as a place where children could swim and play by the lake, with two petting zoos, and a concession stand.

The largest ketchup bottle in the world actually holds the water reserve for the city of Collinsville, Illinois, but if it were filled with ketchup, it would contain the equivalent of 640,000 bottles. This town does love its ketchup — every year they celebrate the Catsup Bottle Festival with motor races, vendors, and a children's pageant.
