Pets That Are More Adventurous Than You

Many people postpone taking a trip because they can't find an adventurous companion. It turns out that you don't need him or her to be from the same species – take a dog, a cat, or even a chicken on your wild trip. You won't regret it. As the following list proves, some four-legged friends can easily put your current travel experience to shame. They can do much more than sleep, eat, cuddle and run around the yard occasionally.

Jesper

Jesper is an adventurous cat who loves to hike, swim, surf, and even ski. You can see him on a trip, pulling skis and riding with a skier in this video.  Jesper has actually become somewhat of a celebrity in Norway. He has his own blog and more than 55,000 followers on Facebook.

Monique

If you have not sailed around the world yet, you have no excuse – a hen is already doing it. Monique and her owner have been at sea crossing the globe for more than two years. She mostly admired the view from the deck, and occasionally laid an egg. Monique has also stood on ice in the water, paddled, and windsurfed.

Maddie

Maddie is up for anything – she loves road trips that will take her to see spectacular lakes or through the big ole country. Maddie also loves being on water, too. She is the star of her owner's special project about travel.

Lava

It's hard not to love the beach when you live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Most cats don't like water, but Lava is not like most cats. She loves to frolic through streams and relax outside in nature. One of her favorite activities seems to be digging holes in the sand and sitting in them.

Ricochet

This Golden Retriever is arguably the most famous award-winning surf dog in the world. She not only wins contests but surfs with purpose – she is the Canine Ambassador for Surfers with Disabilities. Ricochet is a SURFice dog® that provides therapeutic assistance, while creating unique surfing experiences to help people. She is also in two Surf Dog Halls of Fame.

Loki

Loki is a husky/arctic wolf/malamute mix, according to his owner. They started backcountry snowboarding together when he was 4 months old, and before his third birthday, he'd seen most of the western U.S.

Whisper

He is the world's first wingsuit BASE jumping flying dog. You can see his flight in this video. The Australian cattle dog, which lives in Switzerland, is ready for all kinds of adventures all the time. He won't hesitate to take a giant leap off the Swiss Alps.

Puppi and Burma

Meet the most adventurous service dog and cat. Their journey through the wild started when their owner, a war veteran, suffered from PTSD and decided to spend time in nature as a way to cope with depression.

Didga

This is Didga, the skateboarding cat. See her show off her skills in this video. She loves to skate around town and jump on and off the board. If this doesn't inspire you to try some extreme sports, nothing else will.

Honey Bee

This adorable cat is blind but the disability never stops her from going on adventures. She used to live in Seattle, but moved to the Caribbean in 2015 with her human and other cat friend. She loves to relax by a beach and listen to the waves, as well as spend time outside smelling everything.

Gus

They call him the All-Terrain Pug. His owners Cedar and Nellie Wright also call him the "baddest Pug in the game," according to Rock and Dice. Gus now has more than 11,000 followers on his own Instagram account. His favorite pastime is rock climbing. Coming from an active dog breed family, the Pug  can usually be found crossing the base of crags across the country.
