16 Things NEVER To Do At Disney World
16 Things NEVER to do at Disney World
Disney World is a place like no other – a magical place, where children's dreams may actually come true. However, it can be a bit overwhelming; long lines are tiring, the heat can be a lot to handle, constant walking can take a toll on your body, and large crowds may drive you crazy.
Although these things can be stressful, it does not give you the right break park rules.
The Disney World cast members do their best to make sure that you have the best possible experience. So please, don't yell at them and complain because the lines are long and the souvenirs are too expensive. But, most of all, don't disrespect them by erasing all of their hard work; they spend a lot of their day cleaning up after guests. Just throw your garbage in the trash where it belongs.
In order to make the most out of your Disney World experience, it's important to educate yourself on the things you should never do.
Sleep in
The night before, check the scheduled park hours. Avoid sleeping in and make sure you arrive to the parks early so you're not stuck standing on long lines. Tip: The entrance line is long, but the lines for rides, if you go later may be even longer. Get to the park early and enjoy it before the crowds of people rush in.
Expect to do everything
Never expect to do everything you set your sights on. Disney World is HUGE and walking through the park takes enough time in itself. Not to mention, the long wait times for rides. Tip: Review a map before you go and circle the attractions you definitely want to experience, this way once you have done them, you can carelessly roam the park without worrying that you missed something important.
Never dress uncomfortably
You're going to be walking a lot, riding rides, eating messy foods, and probably chasing your kids around. The last thing you want to do is wear those uncomfortable sandals just because they look good. Make sure you dress comfortable – wear sneakers and loose fitting clothing.
Assume all of the rides are appropriate for all ages
It's really important to educate yourself on the attractions. Guests who are traveling with small children should spend time researching what each attraction is like. Make sure you check the height requirements and intensity of the rides. The last thing you want is to have waited on line for an hour to be told you have to exit because your child is not tall enough.
Don’t wait on lines
Never wait on lines at Disney World – they are long, it's hot outside and your kids are likely to get a bit anxious. Take advantage of the FASTPASS. Tip: Do some research beforehand and figure out the best rides to use your FASTPASS on. They are available to all guests and will definitely save you a lot of time at the park.
Never yell at the cast members
Cast members have a lot of responsibilities, from controlling the crowds to answering tons of questions, they can get stressed out too. Blaming them for ride issues won't fix the ride, complaining to them about the cost of souvenirs won't change the price of the item and annoying them about the weather will not make the rain go away. They are around to make your Disney experience magical, so instead of blaming them, embrace them.
Don’t smoke outside the designated areas
There are clearly marked designated smoking areas for individuals who need to smoke. Stay away from restaurants, shops and theme park rides. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you will most likely be informed about the smoke-free policy upon check-in. According to Walt Disney World, "to cover the costs of cleaning and restoring the room to a smoke-free condition, a US $250 to US $500 room recovery fee plus tax (based on the Disney Resort hotel and room type) will be charged to guests who smoke in hotel rooms, on balconies or on patios."
Don’t go during school holidays
Disney World is most crowded when kids are out of school – over the summer, Thanksgiving week, New Year's week, President's Day week, spring break and Christmas. The ticket price tends to increase during this time as well.
Never neglect your parental responsibility
Don't ignore your kids, always keep an eye on them. Disney World is a thrilling place, especially for kids. They may tend to wander or want to run off to view something exciting. You may turn around for a split second, and before you know it your child is gone and has disappeared in the crowd.
Don’t use profanity
Disney World is swarming with children and while some parents could care less, many would prefer that their child doesn't hear profane language. Respect the families at the park and refrain from cursing and using profanity.
Don’t skip out on PhotoPass
Never skip out on using the PhotoPass photographers. You're spending the day at the park, running around with the kids and making wonderful memories. Before you know it, the day has come to an end. You were so caught up, you didn't take any photos. When you see one of the photographers, just stop quickly and take a picture. It is not mandatory that you purchase the photo, but at least you have the option to do so.
Don’t litter
The Disney World cast members work very hard to keep all of the parks clean and safe for their guests. As the crowds rush in, people tend to just toss their garbage or leave their trash on the streets. This is not only unsanitary, but it is also a safety hazard. If you have something you need to throw away, just walk to the closest trash can and dispose of your item there.
Do not miss your scheduled dining reservation
You scheduled your dining reservation, most likely far in advance, so don't let anything get in the way of you making it there. If you are late, you won't be seated right away, you will have to wait for a table to open up for your party size, and if you miss your reservation, Disney may actually charge your credit card.
Just wing it
Never go to the park and just wing it; always have some kind of plan. Make sure you scope out the park before you go. Tip: Take a look at a park map to help plan and organize your day.
Do not exhaust your kids
If you expect to make it all day at the parks, make sure you take a mid-day break. The last thing you want is cranky, screaming kids that are not enjoying their time.
Never go without water
Although park food and drinks can be pricy, never hesitate to buy water. It's important to stay hydrated to avoid dehydration. Dehydration can lead to confusion, irritability, low blood pressure, racing heartbeat, fever and muscle cramps.
