  • In 2020, when the world went downstream, she fought her way upstream as a Class IV whitewater river guide on Maine's Kennebec River and as a first-time official travel writer for an online lifestyle magazine.
  • As a traveler in love with the outdoors and trail running, she ran her first 50K trail race in Bryce Canyon, Utah, in 2023.

Experience

For Maura, it's always been a chicken-or-egg scenario: When it comes to her love for travel and travel writing, which fans the flame of the other? In 2019, she set forth with an English degree, alarming grammar tic, and an aspiration to unite her passions for globetrotting and writing. This led her to eclectic work experiences and home bases around the world: an Austrian village as an Au Pair, a dude ranch in Colorado, a trail running organization in Utah, a ski resort, the beaches of Oahu, and the libraries of Rome. Seeking the most real, immersive experiences that she could find on the map, she has spent significant time in Europe, Hawaii, and Central and South America, not to mention her long, long road trips across America. Maura began to share her adventures as a travel writer and digital nomad in 2020 and recently completed a Travel Writing Certification in 2023. When not traveling, writing, or dreaming about doing just that, she is trail running, reading, and strumming off-tune on an old guitar. At the moment, she is in a sleepy surf town in Costa Rica, has no idea where she will be in a month's time, and likes it that way.

Education

Maura received her Bachelor's degree in English and a concentration in German Language from the University of Dallas in 2019.
