- As a mountain-lover and hiking enthusiast, she has a goal of climbing to the highest point in any place she lives (Texas was easy) or visits (Kilimanjaro was more challenging), and was married at over 12,000 feet at one of the highest points in New Mexico.
- During her MFA program, Mackenzie visited eight cities in Europe to learn about the local literary traditions and hear lectures from local professors at prestigious universities, most notably Trinity College in Dublin.
Experience
Mackenzie grew up near Buffalo, NY but since college has lived a semi-nomadic lifestyle, moving every 2-3 years. All of this travel has given her a deep appreciation for different cultures and the importance of diverse perspectives. Mackenzie has worked as a writer for online and print publications, travel agencies, literary magazines, and travel guides. She also writes fiction with hopes to soon be a published novelist.
Education
Mackenzie double majored in English and writing at the University of Pittsburgh and has an MFA in creative writing from Spalding University. She also studied Eastern European Literature at Charles University in Prague.
