During a semester studying Spanish in Peru in 2009, Amy started a successful travel blog, and has been writing for various travel outlets ever since. She blogged about a sojourn in Southeast Asia, a summer internship in China, and teaching jobs in Czechia and Hungary before transitioning to writing full-time after the birth of her daughter in 2018. In addition to writing for travel anthologies, magazines, newspapers, and websites (e.g., Explore and Matador Network), Amy has also been an editor for several travel websites.

Amy has an English degree from Montana State University, a master's degree in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver, and a TEFL certificate from Oxford House.
