The gorgeous Key West beach resort with near-perfect weather year round was recently named one of the 10 best luxury RV resorts in the U.S. by USA Today. It's no mystery why. What to expect from your tropical escape at Bluewater Key

As you drive through the gates of Bluewater Key, you are instantly immersed in the tropical environment of Key West. Driving past the lots, you'll notice that each one is surrounded by a barrier of lush greenery, allowing you plenty of privacy from your neighbors. Once you check in, you'll have full access to your own private tropical tiki hut equipped with high-speed fiber internet.

After you're settled, you can take a dip in the resort's temperature-controlled swimming pool, or snorkel or paddle in the canal. If you have a boat that's equipped for shallow waters, take it for a spin on the water surrounding the resort. There's a dog park for your furry friends to run around, and a human park where you can have a picnic, toss around horseshoes, or play cornhole. Or you can take your family to the clubhouse where you can spend some quality time lounging together or playing games like table tennis or air hockey. The resort also features a 200-foot community dock, a kayak launch, public showers and restrooms, and laundry facilities. There's also a calendar full of themed events and activities where you can mingle with other guests. At night, relax at your private lot and take in the beauty of Key West.

If you're itching for an adventure outside of the resort, you don't have to go far. You'll find plenty of activities across Key West. You can swim with dolphins, kayak through the backcountry, dive and snorkel with gorgeous marine life, or rent a boat to cruise along the marina. If you're more keen on staying dry, there is no shortage of shops, museums, art galleries, tours, theaters, and other land-centered activities to occupy your time.

Your piece of paradise at this luxury RV resort

At Bluewater Key, rates start at $91 a night and can get up to $361 a night. The price of your stay depends on your lot location, your chosen level of luxury, and the time of year you're visiting. There are three types of campsites: Tropical, Canal, and Bayfront. Tropical is for folks who want to visit Key West on a budget, as it is the least expensive. While it doesn't have a private dock with direct access to the water, you can use the resort's public dock and its pool. A Canal site features a private dock on the canal where you can see tropical fish swim by, and you have direct access for aquatic activities. The Bayfront is the most expensive option, giving you a private oceanfront dock with panoramic views of Key West's incredible sunsets.

Each site has four luxury levels, and the level you select determines the location of your lot and the amenities included. Silver is the most basic and least expensive level. Then you have gold and platinum, with increasingly comfortable furnishings in your tiki hut. The most expensive and luxurious level is platinum plus, offering more space and top-of-the-line furnishings.

The best time of year to visit to get the most bang for your buck is fall (August through November). It should be noted that if you're booking your reservation in advance, you are required to stay a minimum of three nights — four if you're staying during a holiday. If you don't want to stay that long, you need to call and book through the reservations office less than seven days before your intended stay. No matter what time of year you visit, you're sure to have a good time.
