As the largest theme park in the Midwest, Kings Island is a must-visit destination worth making the trip to the suburbs of Cincinnati for. While it's best known for iconic rides such as The Beast and The Racer, you won't want to miss Kings Island's Soak City Water Park come summer. The water park opens each year from late May to the end of August and offers over 50 wet and wild attractions.
Splashing around at Kings Island is one of the best ways to make summer memories, but your day at the park can quickly go south if you fail to wear appropriate attire. When it comes to swimwear, Kings Island has some strict rules guests must follow. First, swimwear that is sheer or deemed revealing, including thong bottoms, are forbidden in the park. Before leaving home, test your suit's fabric under bright lights, and move around to make sure it'll stay put when jumping or zipping down water slides.
Some rides also have specific bathing suit requirements. Aruba Tuba, Paradise Plunge, Pineapple Pipeline, Tropical Plunge, and Tropical Twister are among the attractions that prohibit swimwear with metal buttons, rivets, zippers, or snaps. Additionally, note that small children who use a diaper must wear a swimming diaper before entering the water. If you show up with the wrong swimming gear, be prepared to purchase a new suit or swimming garment in the water park's shop.

While a bikini or pair of swim trunks may be enough for Soak City, other parts of Kings Island will require additional clothing. Make sure to pack shirts, shorts, and shoes to wear over your swimwear to abide by the park's dress code. These items should be family-friendly and free of offensive language or images, per Kings Island's official policies. Garments should also fully cover underwear.
Additionally, some rides may have separate dress codes, which will be enforced upon entering the attraction. These rules are in place largely for safety reasons, which makes sense given that Kings Island is one of the most dangerous theme parks in the U.S. Park staff can answer any questions about ride-specific restrictions, but in general, avoid clothing with long, flowing fabric or strings that could get caught on machinery. Slip-on sandals and mules may also fly off mid-ride, so opt for a secure pair of sneakers instead.
