Take A Family Trip To This Fun-Filled Texas Outdoor Adventure Destination
One of the great things about Texas is that a visit to an outdoor water park and campground is suitable all year round, due to the state's long summer days and winters that average on the mild side. Splashway in Sheridan is a great place to cool off any time of year and create outdoor family memories that will last a lifetime. Here visitors will find 15 thrill-seeking slides, toddler zones, an obstacle course, a lazy river, a lagoon, and two wave pools, along with a campground that offers a dozen other outdoor activities.
Visitors prize Splashway for its safe atmosphere and family values, including a dress code for swimsuits and family-friendly music playing around the park. As a family-owned and operated business, every detail is designed with kids of all ages in mind, says the park website. There's something for everyone, whether you're seeking a lazy day by the pool or you hope to battle it out with an exciting game of laser tag. It's all here.
Water park attractions
On the water park side, start at The Patriot, as it's the first slide of its kind, offering riders a change of direction mid-course. The newest attraction, the Dueling Splash Blasters, features steep inclines and a dramatic plunge, all while racing your loved ones. For a big thrill, start in the SkyBox on the Summit Plummet and wait for the floor to drop out, sending you spiraling through twists and turns. Adrenaline junkies will get a kick out of Midnight Storm, a slide in total darkness, and the Pirates Plunge, which features a 45-foot drop.
For something more laid-back, there's Hurricane Hill. This 20-foot slide offers a medium thrill and drops you off in the lazy river. For some pool time, head to the swimming hole known as the "Lagoon" or pretend you're in the ocean at one of two wave pools. Be sure to keep an eye out for Ray, the sunglass-wearing sun mascot. He loves to take selfies and dance with guests.
Little ones will love the Minnow Pond and Toddler Bay, two shallow pools with mini slides and hands-on activities. Older children will enjoy Kiddie Cove and Costa Del Rey with splash buckets and playground-size slides. For a little obstacle-course fun, the Criss-N-Cross has an overhead rope across the pool, kind of like monkey bars. Visitors can do their best to get across without falling into the pool, balancing on floating objects along the way.
Campground activities and ticket information
The fun doesn't stop at the water park. You can stay overnight at the campground in an RV, tent, cabin, or cottage for an additional fee. No matter what accommodation you choose, there are several amenities included with your stay, like horseshoe, cornhole, volleyball, basketball, tether ball, outdoor movies, a jumbo inflatable for jumping, giant chess and checkers, and playgrounds peppered around the park. Go ahead and bring Fido along, too, as it's a pet-friendly campground with a dog park.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the park. Prices will vary, depending on the age of each visitor and what day you plan to attend. Online tickets to the water park range from $45.99 to $59.99 for adults and $39.99 to $49.99 for kids. For campground prices, tent sites start at $45 per night, RV sites start at $60 per night, and indoor accommodation ranges from $130 to $450. For an additional fee, families can purchase tickets to play laser tag and mini golf, or rent equipment for water sports. If your kids want to do it, chances are it's here. Splashway is one U.S. water park and campground you don't want to miss.
