Snowshoeing, Skiing Glades And 7 Other Things You Need To Try This Winter
The seasonal bucket list—a wonderful tradition where we write out our hopes and intentions for the coming months and then try our best to cross at least a few items off the list. [slideshow:1187]
If you have yet to put one together, you should give it a try. Days, weeks and months pass in what seems like the blink of an eye, so if there are things you intend to do this winter writing them down might be the extra push you need. These lists are even more useful in the winter when holiday plans take so much time and the weather can be unpredictable at best and totally uncooperative at worst.
Every year you say you'll take that big ski trip and at the end of each season you promise yourself you'll find more time for the slopes next year—grab a pen and some paper and put it on the list. If you're strapped for ideas, we've gathered a few of our favorites to get you started. Now all you need to do is copy them down, follow through and enjoy your winter adventures.
Snowshoeing
Similar to hiking, only a lot more taxing, snowshoeing is a great winter activity that will keep you in shape while others are sitting by the fire. It's important to get the right equipment and to know your limits (don't plan a crazy long route the first time), but with some practice it can be one of the best winter activities for your health and fitness level.
Skiing Glades
Gladed runs—or slopes riddled with trees—can be both challenging and exhilarating, but they can also be dangerous. Pair up with someone who knows how to ski glades and start with an intermediate trail with a few trees. Remember, don't look at the trees, look at the space between the trees and you'll have a much easier time getting through them.
